Wonderful old London around 1900 in colour! [AI enhanced and colourized] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJgVZozcUKc
An extremely interesting collection of colourized old film footage about London more than a century ago. This footage spans a period between 1895 and around 1915. Many viewers keep commenting how few people from other nationalities can be seen in this film. However, there have always been Chinees, Indian, Irish and other immigrants who lived in London, among other in the East End. A film that shows life in these districs will be uploaded next year. Another comment involves the small number of obese persons in the streets. One should realise that poverty was widespread in those years. Most Londoners could not afford good and abundant food nor was there a decent health care service. The NHS did not exist until 1948. Only the upper class (about 1% of the population) were reasonably well-to-do. Some footage is very old and damaged, so the picture quality varies with each scene (from excellent to reasonable). There is not much that can be done with software to repair damaged film. From a historic perspective we decided to enhance as many old films as possible, including the lesser quality ones. The original film has been motion-stabilized, speed-corrected, contrast- and brightness corrected, de-noised and restored, enhanced and colourized with sophisticated Artificial Intelligence sotware.
